Wisconsin criminal law classifies domestic violence as a crime if violence occurs between persons who live together. It also extends to people who do not live together, but are dating or share a child or children together.

Crimes frequently charged as domestic violence can include, but are not limited to:

    * Disorderly conduct
* Battery
* Criminal damage to property
* Violation of a domestic violence injunction (restraining order)

If you are accused of domestic violence, you have powerful forces aligned you in Wisconsin’s judicial system:

    * Most jurisdictions in Wisconsin have mandatory arrest policies for police who find themselves in a situation where one person merely accuses another of domestic violence.
* Domestic violence advocates have a powerful presence in the Wisconsin State capitol where new laws are passed every session extending the scope of what is considered a domestic violence crime. In Milwaukee County, domestic violence advocates work in conjunction with three different courts and a Court Commissioner who are devoted solely to domestic violence cases.
* Milwaukee County has a Federal grant that funds not only those three courts and Commissioner, but also a squadron of District Attorneys…all dealing with domestic violence cases.

It is no surprise that an average citizen in this situation quickly finds themselves over their head and in need of an experienced domestic violence attorney.

If you or a loved one has been the victim of medical malpractice, you need an attorney who understands your unique situation. Since it can be difficult to win a medical malpractice case, you need to choose your attorney carefully – the right one can help you collect damages for your injuries and suffering, while the wrong one can end up costing you quite a bit of time and money.

It is critical that you choose an attorney that specializes in medical malpractice cases. Medical malpractice is a complicated field, so having an attorney who is well versed in medical malpractice law is essential to building a case against a physician or hospital. Be wary of attorneys who handle multiple types of cases – they may not fully understand the nuances of medical malpractice law.

You should also look for a Milwaukee medical malpractice attorney who has many years of experience in this field. Your attorney should have a proven track record of cases won. Hiring an inexperienced attorney can make it very difficult to prove your case, and to obtain damages from your medical provider.

It is also important that you choose a Milwaukee medical malpractice attorney who is willing to discuss his fee schedule with you up front. If you have suffered significant injuries due to medical malpractice, you are likely already paying for additional medical care. In some cases, your injuries might even prevent you from working. If this is the case, your financial situation might not allow for unexpected legal fees. Thus, you should know about all fees before you hire an attorney to represent you.

One of the most important things you should do when looking for a Milwaukee medical malpractice attorney is prepare a list of questions. Meeting with a lawyer can be an overwhelming experience, so you will need to have a list of questions handy to make sure you fully understand the process of building and filing a case against a medical provider.

You should also avoid getting in a hurry when looking for a Milwaukee medical malpractice attorney. You are probably eager to file your case against your hospital or physician, but taking your time will allow you to obtain the knowledge you need to make informed decisions. Carefully evaluating and selecting your attorney will greatly improve your ability to collect damages for your injuries.

With affordable housing and acting as home to some of America’s largest companies, real estate in Milwaukee, WI may not be booming, but it is surviving. This Lake Michigan metropolis boasts a low cost of living, great school system, numerous post-secondary institutions and magnificent cultural attractions like the Milwaukee Art Museum. If you’re considering purchasing Milwaukee real estate, keep reading for more information on housing prices, demographic breakdowns, and surrounding communities.

Real estate in Milwaukee, WI is definitely affordable. According to MLS, the median price for homes in early 2008 hovered around $150,000 and despite the national housing market downturn, home prices may not be appreciating, but they are holding steady. The city also boasts a cost-of-living index of 87, meaning it costs about 13% less to live in Milwaukee when compared to the national average. The population of Milwaukee is just over 600,000. However, the entire metropolitan area encompasses approximately 1.79 million residents. The median income is about $36,000 and the median age is average at 32 years old. Milwaukee is also known for its well educated populace, particularly when compared to the national average. The workforce is highly educated, with almost 85% of residents holding a high school diploma and close to 30% holding a bachelor’s degree.

Unfortunately, Milwaukee is a highly segregated city. According to the 2000 census, 39.5% of respondents from Milwaukee indicated African-American ancestry. In turn, the city has the second highest black male unemployment rate in the United States at 43%. The city is continuing to attempt to reduce racial tensions and decrease pronounced segregation. Real estate in Milwaukee, WI goes beyond the city proper and includes such areas, towns and communities as Brookfield, Elm Grove, New Berlin, Shorewood, Waukesha and Menomonee Falls.

The largest city of the state of Wisconsin, Milwaukee has a population of over 700,000. Finding a house for rent in this city can be a simple task if you manage to answer a few questions, firstly what type of building are you looking for? Secondly where do such homes exist in the city? What is the average rent for such a home? Finally what are the different neighborhoods of this city that are safe? If you can invest some time into answering these questions then I can assure you that finding a home for rent will be a lot easier.

Milwaukee has it share of safe and unsafe neighborhoods, here I have tried to list a few neighborhoods that are safe to inhabit and I have also mentioned some which you ought to avoid at any cost. Marquette is a neighborhood that is part of the Marquette university campus, this area is mainly inhabited by students and it is a mile away from the Michigan Lake. This neighborhood is ideal for students to stay and it has many studio apartments that students can rent.

Third ward is an upper-class neighborhood that has a high number of condos and loft apartments. This area is Milwaukee’s main transport hub and houses are on the costlier side. Brewer’s hill is also an upscale gentrified neighborhood, it is a safe area to live in and once again the rent here is on the costlier side. Cold Spring Park is a neighborhood that is safe and calm. Juneau which is a part of this neighborhood is home to a number of middle class families and it is an area where the rent is moderate. Sherman Park, Jackson Park and Tippecanoe are other safe neighborhoods where the families are largely middle class. The average rent in these areas is moderate.

Martin drive is a neighborhood that is considered to be one of the safest in this city. There are many unsafe neighborhoods, especially in the south and the north side of Milwaukee. Metcalfe Park and Park West are two of the most unsafe neighborhoods therefore avoid renting homes in them.

A normal one/two bedroom house/apartment would cost anywhere between $500 to $2000 depending on the region and facilities provided. Some houses charge rent without additional services like heating so ensure that you come to an agreement with the landlord on all the inclusive charges.

Wisconsin is home to more than 7,000 rivers and streams. So if you are into fishing, Wisconsin is your place to be. With two great rivers separating the western and eastern boundaries, you can be sure that there is always a good catch in Wisconsin.

Moreover, Wisconsin’s sultry continental type of weather with breezy but hot season at most part of the region and humid summers in the south has made the place an ideal spot for relaxation. No wonder why many people are choosing this part of the United State as a great place for fishing while riding the canoes.

Since most of the state’s region is covered with lakes, rivers, and streams, canoeing has been the perfect vacation getaway of every family. They find it easier to observe and scrutinize nature through canoeing. However, with the state’s abundant bodies of water endowed with rich water resources, Wisconsin has also been the perfect place for fishing.

Hence, many people have decided to hit two birds with one stone and enjoy both activities in a more enjoyable way – canoe fishing. Canoe fishing is not ridiculous. Many people thought that fishing out of a canoe seems hard and risky, but for some adventurers, the thrill is just part of the game.

Trying to maintain your weight on a canoe while fishing some trout or bass is definitely amusing, especially with this type of recreation. With the little monsters trying to lure away from your bait, getting a steady canoe can be very tricky. Nevertheless, with great skill and determination, you can easily catch a big one with ease.

There are many game fishes available in the great waters of Wisconsin. You can easily watch out for sturgeon, trout, pike, walleye, and muskellunge in Wisconsin’s streams and lakes through canoeing. Once you have spotted a good area, hook your bait, and make that beautiful throw in the water.

You just have to remember that not all canoes are good for fishing. Hence, if you plan to fish while using canoes, it is best that you use the big ones. These types of canoes are perfect for carrying your fishing equipments. Bigger canoes are also known for its stability in the waters, no matter how naughty your trout can be. Nevertheless, canoes are still the best transportations used in fishing. With its gentle, quiet movements in the water, canoes make the top choice of most anglers especially on isolated lakes and streams.

In spite of the firm seats provided by canoes, many people say that these things can be “outfitted” to give out comfort and relaxation for its users. Anglers can use sticky cushion pads on the flooring to enable kneeling while hooking out a big catch. Some may even use “sleeping cushions” and place them on the base. This, in turn, will lessen the stiffness brought about by the basic feature of the canoe.

Moreover, anglers can also make some gear boxes neatly placed in the canoe. This will ensure your fishing equipments tightly locked in place while you glide along the lake or stream. And if in any case your canoe capsized, you can be sure that your things are secured in place.

Given all that, canoe fishing can be just as fun as the regular type of fishing using the typical motorized boats. You just have to make some proper arrangements to make fishing more pleasurable to deal with.

Wisconsin especially has adopted a policy that completely prohibits underage drinking and operating motor vehicles. The state’s program features the slogan “Not One Drop” and highlights the strong stance that the state takes toward minors driving under the influence.

As the name suggests, Wisconsin has a zero-tolerance policy for minors operating vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Statute 346.63 (2M) in Wisconsin states that persons who have not yet reached a legal drinking age cannot operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.0%. If a minor is caught driving with a BAC over the limit, he or she will be subject to an immediate three-month suspension of driving privileges and may face additional charges for violating the state’s drinking laws.

Wisconsin also stipulates that individuals who refuse to submit to a breathalyzer test will face license revocation for a period of one year. Such penalties are designed to persuade individuals to submit to BAC testing immediately upon apprehension and can assist the case in the event it ever goes to criminal court.

Most drinking-law violations in Wisconsin require the individual to go to court, regardless of the plea. Some individuals may be allowed to take alcohol-awareness classes in lieu of the three-month license suspension. Persons who choose not to participate in alcohol education are typically forced to take the suspension and any other judgments handed down by the court.

Because the state places so much importance on it’s drinking laws, minors in the state should be aware of the punishments for violating such provisions. It is especially important to know that minors suspected of driving under the influence may be subject to harsher punishment in Wisconsin than in other states. Fortunately, such hard-line stances help to discourage minors from making decisions that may cause harm to themselves and others.

Milwaukee is renowned for its cheeses, beer and baseball, but, this city has offered much to evolve a trendier world. Milwaukee lies on the bank of Lake Michigan, which also happens to be the fifth largest lake of the world, overlooking spectacular vistas and offering breath-taking views to its residents. It is also an international seaport and thus, is a hub bustling with trade, commercial and manufacturing activities.

Till the 1830s Milwaukee was a small area with Potawatomi settlement, however, in 1940s the city progressed and developed by trading fur. In the late 1800s Milwaukee came to be known as the “Beer Town”, because of its four famous brewers namely; Frederick Pabst, Frederick Miller, Joseph Schlitz and Valentine Blatz. By 1872, Milwaukee was the biggest exporter of beer within the country.

Milwaukee is home to the largest four faced clock, which is known as the Allen Bradley Clock. It still used for navigational purposes and actually consists of four individual clocks with an octagonal face. The museum of Milwaukee is renowned because of its unique collection of artifacts and specimens which count up to six million. This museum also holds the honor of housing the largest dinosaur skull in the world.

The name Milwaukee is derived from ‘Milliocki’ which means, gathering place by water. The city was also referred to as the ‘Cream City’, due to the yellowish hued bricks produced by the brick pioneers. The early brick makers who were disappointed by the looks of the brick soon found its color a blessing in disguise, because of its high demand among people of other cities. These bricks are still high in demand but are no more manufactured but recycled.

Milwaukee has a rich heritage that can be witnessed during the summerfest which happens to be the world’s largest music festival. The festivities are carried on for eleven days and feature a variety of delightful music. Another attraction of the city is the building of Milwaukee Gas Company, which has a flame shaped light on the top, for forecasting the weather conditions of the city through a color code system. Yellow forecasts cold, Blue; no change and Red predicts a warmer day.

Apart from this Milwaukee offers the best options for dining out and recreational activities. It is the cheese capital of the world that also brings forth the most delectable culinary palettes for those who revere food. So if you are planning your vacation or looking for a city to relocate do not forget to go on a virtual tour of Milwaukee.

Santiago Calatrava first was awarded the competition to build the Milwaukee Art Museum, beating out such luminaries as Arato Isozaki and Fumihiko Maki, the thought of such an exciting building did not exist.

There were already sections of the MAM extant, built by Eero Saarinen and David Kahler. But it was evident that by the late 1980s there would need to be some sort of a drastic change if the museum was to provide an effective ongoing service to its patrons and visitors.

The museum directors at least had the vision to see that sweeping changes would be necessary, but it is highly unlikely that they could even begin to imagine what Santiago Calatrava might have had in store for them.

One of the earlier problems before any of the construction got underway was the budget. Like many such projects, the estimated cost grew rapidly due to the ever expanding vision which Mr. Calatrava had for the building.

Starting out at a relatively modest $8 to $10 million dollars, it soon became evident that the final design would cost more – a lot more. Rapidly the price elevated to $35 million, drawing loud concerns from the directors. This was not to be the end of the cost increases, however, with the final bill leaping into the stratosphere at $75 million.

While all this may sound somewhat extravagant, it is not in the least unusual in the rarified world of exquisite structures such as this. Rarely does any sort of major building come in at the original intended budget. And the MAM certainly proves that point in spades!

However, get off the ground it did, in large part due to Mr. Calatrava’s not inconsiderable charm at getting the moneyed gentry to open up their purses.

Has the cost been worth it? You only need look at the wildly spectacular results in terms of visitors to the museum since it has been open. The original projections were completely blown out of the water right from day one. The museum has been an outstanding success. Not only due to Santiago Calatrava – although he must take much of the credit – but to a long list of people who made sure that the museum did, in fact, get off the ground in the first place.
